The sun sets on Biloxi Beach in Biloxi, Mississippi. I'm sure there are more beautiful places in the world, but to me, there is nothing more beautiful than my beloved Gulf Coast.
Dauphin Island, Ala.
As the junction of the Memphis & Charleston and Mobile & Ohio railroads, this X made Corinth a vital transportation hub for the Confederacy and a target for Union troops. Thousands of men died fighting to control this 16 square foot patch of soil. The Crossroads Museum is now located at the site.
The sun sets on Biloxi, Mississippi April 13, 2010. The city is the home of Keesler Air Force Base and is a popular vacation destination due to its sandy beaches and numerous waterfront gambling casinos, which include Beau Rivage, Isle of Capri, and Grand Casino. Due to the proliferation of gambling, the Mississippi Gulf Coast is often called the "Poor Man's Riviera." Much of Biloxi's waterfront property along Scenic Highway 90 was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina Aug. 29, 2005, but as a result of revitalization efforts, recovery is now well underway. (Carmen K.
